Schemes of the Lich King
Sons of the Mountain King
The Sons of the Mountain King are a centuries-old mining concern out of Glittergarden ruled, not surprisingly, by a council of dwarves. Their major interests are gold, diamonds, rubies and anything else that can be considered a precious metal. Of course, they also act as the major money lenders throughout the Dragon Empire and most noble houses can turn to the Sons for financial loans or as ways to pay for their construction projects. However, the terms of repayment are harsh if allowed to go on too long. Nobody wished to be in a situation where they want to owe the Sons money. They rarely turn to violence but it has been known to happen in dire cases.
To the shame of many dwarves, they are merchants first, dwarves second and citizens of the Dragon Empire a distant third. Their deals are harsh but they are fair and keep to their word but they are not to be crossed and not ones to fall behind to with debts.
One such disagreement exists between the Sons and with the far more prestigious Guild of Hammers in Forge. The Sons feel that the Guild is filled with foolish do-gooders who exist to get themselves killed and are only bringing outdated notions of glory that impresses only humans. The Guild feels that the Sons are greedy and self-serving.
